Hello, Hello, Hello!

Hello again,
It's been a while since I added anything new.  Spring and summer months are hard, because there are so many other things to do - mostly outside.  I've had a chance to work on a few things in the last few months.  I just didn't find the time to share them.  Since my last post, I have made two quilts and about five new cards.  I  did manage to get pictures of them, although not very good ones.  I bought a new camera and am just learning how to use it.  These pictures look really washed out from the end product.  It's supposed to be a GOOD camera, but it's user error that needs a lot of work and practice.

Well anyway, here is one of the quilts that I made for my lovely daughter-in-law.  She graduated from nursing school after lots of hard work.  She loves purple and I really like blues and purples together.  I trimmed it in lime green and then edged it in the butterfly material.

For the back, I bought a really soft blanket in purple of course.  It gives the quilt weight and also makes it really warm and cuddly.  I understand her two puppies really like it.

To add some fun, I did some embroidery in the middle of all the blue stars with designs that had butterflies in them.  I used a blue thread that was similar to the background.  It doesn't sound like it would be very neat, but it really adds a soft look without being really bold against all the other material colors.

After I finished all of the sewing on the quilt, I added jewels with a jewel setting hot gun.  It really made the embroidery stand out and also made it look really girly.

I couldn't help myself, I also had to make her a card to go with the quilt.  I tried to keep to the butterfly theme by adding one to the inside of the card.

Well, that's it for now.  I'll try and get something else posted in the next day or so.  Thanks for stopping by!

Saturday . . . finally!

Good Morning and Happy Saturday!

This has been a long week.  Jeff finally got a job.  He will now be working at Thompson Pools doing indoor sales.  He is very excited to be working again.  It has been 7 months since he was laid off.  He has to work on Saturdays 9:00 a.m until 4:00 p.m.  I don't like that part, as that will only leave us with 1 day a week together.  Oh well, that is the sacrifice that we have to make for now.

Well, as promised, I have a new post for you . . .

This little girl is a Bild stamp - "Sitting - Mimosa".  I colored her with Copic pens.  My task was to show a front light source  I know that I still have a lot to learn.  I think that she is really sweet and she was fun to color.  I really liked how the paper and ribbons match so well and tie in really well with the pinks of her clothes.  I think it is a bright and fun card.  Here is the inside. . .

I used the same paper and a spellbinder template for the insert so that a nice sentiment can be written later.  I thought the stamp went with it really well, also.  This is one of my favorite cards so far.  I need to get better at taking pictures.  This just doesn't do the true colors justice as they are a little washed out from the real thing.  I have a light box that I am experimenting with.  I think that I need to get one more free standing lamp to help with the natural lighting.  What I really need is Practice, Practice, Practice!!  I think I might also get help from a professional photographer whom I happen to be related to through marriage.  Hey, if you can't bother family then what good are they.  :)

Well this is all that I have for now.  I'm not sure when I will be back.  It is really how the mood hits me.  I am getting the "sewing" bug and will most likely start a new quilt.  So, until next time - bye bye

I know it's been a while . . .

Hello Again!

I know that it has been a while since I last posted something.  Like everyone, I have been busy with work and family obligations.  I finally decided to dedicate some time this weekend to finish a couple of cards so that I would have something to show you.  I am excited to say that I got two completed and my room put back together.  Wow, did I ever have a mess.

I have to admit that I have had the little girl colored for quite a while, but I just couldn't figure out how to put it all together and so I just kept stalling.  I knew that I wanted to stick to yellow and purple, but sill I struggled with it.  This is what I finally came up with...

The little girl is from CC's designs, from the Honey series, "bikini".  I colored her with Copic pens and used Spica pens on her sunglasses to make them glitter a little bit.  The sunglasses were stamped totally black, and so I didn't really have much of a choice on how to color them.  I used several Spellbinder shapes to add contrast and added pop dots to every layer for dimension.

For the inside of the card I decided to decorated it with the same shapes and papers and I used a stamp sentiment from Stampendous.  I think it is a wonderful, warm saying and that it goes really well with a little girl sitting in her bikini.

Well, I hope that you were glad to see that I haven't given up my blog.  I will be back in a couple of days to show you my second card.  I think you will really like it.  It's got to be one of my favorites so far.  Hopefully I will see you back again soon.  Until then . . .

Hello, It's Tuesday. . .

I'm here again and this time I have a new card to show you.  I picked out paper and then colored my picture accordingly.  Here it is . . .

This little girl is from CC Stamps.  I think she is soooo cute.  I colored her with Copics (of course) and used embellishments that I had or I made them to match.  As far as the flower, I punched out 3 different designs and then colored them with my Copics to match the paper.  In the center of the flower, I used a velvet brad to fasten it all together.

For the inside of the card I . . .

used the same paper colors and then added a great saying along with an area to write something personal.  I really like how it all turned out.  Now I just need to find someone to give it to.

Happy Wednesday . . .

Well, I am posting again.  If you have been visiting regularly, you will notice that my site looks different AGAIN.  I finally did it!!!!   I managed to get my slide show to work and I figured out how to add fun gadgets.  Man, what a learning curve.

If you don't mind, I would like to show you another card that I made for my sister.  I thought she could use a happy thought after her son got married.  Life changes so very fast, kids grow up and we just keep getting older.  I hate that . . .

For this card, I used Copic pens to color the little girl and flowers.  This stamp is from Lilly of the Valley.  I love their stamps.  I then added beads for the necklace and bracelet.  For the flowers, I double stamped and colored it.  I then  added it with a pop dot and bent the top layer up to give it a 3-D affect and glazed it with "glossy affects".  I also used the "glossy affects" to adhere a bead inside each flower. ( I only had white pearls and so I colored them with one of my Copic pens to give me the look I wanted.)  By glazing the flowers it made them stiff and formable.  Once dry they hold their shape really well.  I wanted a flower to decorate it with, and wanted it to match the girl, sooooo I had some white flowers and then I used my airbrush (love that thing) and Copic pens to color 3 layers and then put them together with a nice glittery brad.

For the inside of the card I used the same paper and layered them and added a couple of stamps.  I would show you, except that I had already written in it and think I should keep that private.

Well, this is all I have for now.  I have some new pens coming tomorrow.  I am really excited and am looking forward to using them and sharing my results with you.  Sooooo, until next time.....

I'm back . . .

I have a really fun card to display.  I wanted to do something with wire, so I decided that this wonderful stamp by Sugarplums would be fun to use.  I colored everything with copics and then used 22 guage craft wire for the strings.  I really wanted the balloons to look like they were floating so I used different thicknesses of pop dots to do the trick.  The tree stump is a digi stamp that I got from In style stamps.  I used a spellbinder tag for the greeting and chalk to give it color...

For the inside of the card, I wanted it to be fun and cheery and so I decided to use red and white.  I used the same trim so that it felt like it was still the same card.  I also used a spellbinder die to make a spot to write a little note in.  I'm happy with the results.  I have a friend in mind to send this to.  Thanks for stopping in...

Hello Again!!!!

Well, I changed my look from yesterday.  I think it is getting better.  I have been trying diligently to get a slide show of some of my cards and also some labels set up on my blog.  All I can say is "ugghhh"!!!!  So far it hasn't worked out.  I will keep trying.  I'm not one to give up easily.  I also know people . . .

Well, I just wanted to see what it would look like with a second posting.  Since I am my own follower, I guess I had better get to it and check out my blog page.  I'm sure Sadie would follow if she had thumbs!
